CEBU, Philippines (October 2, 2008) – Bigfoot Entertainment’s music video for the feature Deep Gold has completed filming in Cebu and will be released soon.
The “Golden Trail” music video was shot in Bigfoot Studio’s Sound Stage 2, the only truly soundproof stage in the Philippines. The video, shot on the revered Red One Camera, features the band Muller and Patton with pieces of the set from Deep Gold, including the C130 cargo plane and “Sea Star,” the boat used throughout the film. Also, while filming the music video, actual workers were constructing the set and purposefully became part of the background— clips of welders creating sparks and workers using circular saws transition into scenes from the movie.
Ben Patton and Jaye Muller, of the band Muller and Patton, wrote and composed “Golden Trail” and eleven other songs for the Deep Gold soundtrack. All of the songs are based on the film’s story; “Golden Trail” literally uses things from the movie as metaphors. The complete album will be available on iTunes in time for Christmas. Muller and Patton also wrote songs for Bigfoot’s feature Irreversi and several of the company’s television series. The songwriting duo commented on the video: “the coolest part was that the crew creating the sets became part of the video, there were no hired extras.”
Los Angeles Music Video Director Matt Karam was flown in for six weeks to develop the concept with Ben and Jaye. The actual shoot took place over three days at the Bigfoot complex and around Cebu. It was Matt’s first time working with Bigfoot and the crew immediately impressed him. Matt remarked that there are “a lot of talented people at my disposal for this project,” both foreign and local. He continued, “Bigfoot provides an international experience where you can meet people from all over the world; our DP Torsten Schimmer is German, we had a Cebuano crew… I enjoyed my experience here in Cebu.”
